Highest efficiency class for drives
Saving energy increases the overall economic efficiency of processes and companies. The sixth generation of drives from KEB Automation is a part of this with the highest energy efficiency class.
The special service for the user: The KEB website provides detailed information on the energy efficiency and power dissipation in various operating points for each device in the download area.
According to the German Federal Environment Agency, in 2016 the industrial sector was responsible for 44 percent of the total consumption of electrical energy, up to 70 percent of which came from electrical drives alone. This means that even a small percentage optimization of energy efficiency has a positive effect on overall energy consumption.
According to ZVEI, the energy-saving potential of electric drives is around 40 percent, with the electric motor and its mechanical connection to the application accounting for the bulk of the power loss. However, the frequency inverter must also be included in the energy balance.
The new European Standard 61800-9 assesses the energy efficiency of electric drive systems and modules. This means that inverters are now also evaluated as components of a drive or a complete drive system in terms of efficiency in so-called IE and IES classes.
All KEB frequency inverters of the new generation F6/S6 have more than 25 percent lower losses than the reference inverter and are therefore classified into the highest class IE 2.
